Flu doesn’t give corona pause

flu doesn't give corona pause

A raging fever, dry cough and severe headache – too severe for a normal cold. Up to now, with such symptoms, especially in the cold season, it was obvious that influenza, i.E. The real flu, was the culprit. In 2020, however, the coronavirus is still going around, which can manifest itself with very similar symptoms.

"It is not always possible, even for an expert, to distinguish between the two on the basis of the symptoms alone, says dr. Ullrich zuber, chairman of the coburg family doctors’ association with a practice in kaltenbrunn. "There are indeed these symptoms, which are already known through the media and can lead a layman to suspect covid-19. But the most sensible way is to have a consultation with the family doctor and to discuss the further procedure." Only a test swab can ultimately provide certainty.

Longer waiting times possible

In any case, at the moment it is imperative that you call the practice to make an appointment. Special infection consultations for people with symptoms minimize the risk for other patients. "These protective measures make a practice a safe place to be. No one has to be afraid of getting infected there." The time of full waiting rooms is over. "In the past, you sometimes went to the doctor and then went home cold again. That won’t be the case anymore."

Local history society visits friends

local history society visits friends

For the fourth time, the herzogenaurach local history society paid a visit to the carninthian twin town of wolfsberg, and once again all the participants were enthusiastic about the hospitality and the unforgettable hours spent in austria. As always, the hosts made every effort to make the stay at the lavant an unforgettable experience.

During a tour of the city, the french delegation received a profound impression of the history of wolfsberg. Like herzogenaurach, the town once belonged to the bamberg monastery, and it was not until 1759 that empress maria theresia bought the town of wolfsberg and the surrounding area from the bambergers. Although the agreed purchase sum was never transferred, local politicians remembered the common history 50 years ago. In 1968 the mayor of bamberg mathieu reminded of the common history of bamberg and its carinthian and styrian possessions and herzogenaurach under mayor hans maier started the friendship with his colleague from wolfsberg kunstatter.

Since then, the friendly relationship between the two communities has been steadily deepened: clubs and school classes, as well as numerous private individuals, cultivate friendships and the partnership between the two cities (each with a population of around 25,000), which are roughly the same size. And so one day of the visit by the local history society was devoted to the history of the city and the culture of carniola. A visit to the exhibition rooms in the city museum, a city tour as well as the visit to the house of the regions with its culinary treasures were the first highlights.

Tax advantages for house modernization in three of munnerstadt’s old town centers

Tax advantages for house modernization in three of Munnerstadt's old town centers

Residents of the inner villages of reichenbach, seubrigshausen and wermerichshausen can now claim considerable tax benefits when modernizing their properties. This is possible because the three town centers are now redevelopment areas. Almost all renovation and modernization work, such as the installation of new bathrooms and the like, can now be tax-deductible for the residents of the inner districts. For work on municipal buildings, there are grants of 50 percent on average, but this value varies.

Fabian noth (neue wege) and michael kastl (CSU) had submitted a corresponding motion for reichenbach, ulla muller (CSU) and michael kastl for seubrigshausen and wermerichshausen. The background, as michael kastl informed us in response to a question in our newspaper, was that extensive trenching work was pending in the three towns. "The aim is for the public and private sectors to work together." It had already been stipulated in these applications that – if coarser tree removals occur in other parts of the city – redevelopment areas should also be designated there.

In march 2017, the city council had decided to carry out the preparatory studies for the three city districts. "Those were three big chunks, said christiane wichmann from architektenburo perleth at the youngest city council meeting. She briefly presented the work carried out, which included, among other things, the inventory analysis and the assessment of urban planning deficiencies, unhealthy living and working conditions and, functional deficiencies. In addition, framework plans were drawn up for each of them.

Golzenleuchter that ingo cesaro already in 1979 in the anthology he edited "nicht mit den wolfen heulen" (don’t howl with the wolves) represented with poems was. In the meantime, three books have been published by his publishing house, and their beautiful appearance always features a color woodcut in iris print by golzenleuchter. Cesaro is also represented in all of the publisher’s seasonal anthologies and annual workprint folders.

But the main focus of his reading was the recently published book "your heart did not burn". Here cesaro was mainly interested in presenting his jan palach project and explaining his own experiences in prague.

Moral courage: why looking the other way is the wrong option

moral courage: why looking the other way is the wrong option

Saturday night. Shortly after 3 o’clock. On the way through the city center of kronach, a group of manners catches the eye, there is a loud discussion, and the tone becomes increasingly aggressive. They start pushing each other. The situation threatens to escalate. What to do?

"The worst solution? To simply turn away and move on", gerhard anders, press spokesman for the kronach police, and his colleague matthias stocker agree. The situation described is fictitious, but not too far-fetched. Only recently, a case of attempted manslaughter was heard in the coburg district court. The victim was a 51-year-old man who intervened in a similar situation on kronach’s marienplatz – but whose civil courage became his downfall.

Always a matter of discretion

But how do you deal with situations where turning away and walking on is the worst course of action?? It is always a matter of discretion whether one actively intervenes in such a situation, says anders. "Anyone with common sense should assess this and ask themselves: can I be expected to do this?? Or was I just putting myself in danger??" Regardless of the individual case, one thing is always advised: to dial 911 and inform the police. "The best thing to do is to describe the situation as precisely as possible to your colleagues on the phone." In this case, you should keep calm and avoid hectic and watch everything carefully – if you are traveling alone, better from a distance. "If I myself become a victim, I achieve nothing. As an observer, however, I can later support the police with my testimony."

Potholes and a shortage of doctors were also a topic in the past

Potholes and a shortage of doctors were also a topic in the past

Once again, the rudolf winkler house was filled to capacity. Everyone wanted to know what it was like back then. "Back then", this meant the time of the three-year war until the end of the bamberg monastery around 1803. The audience was given a vivid impression of the history of zeil in numerous pictures and in a lecture, in which historical facts and figures were mixed in a well-balanced relationship with entertaining original statements of people from that time. A profound speaker was alois umlauf, one of the four local historians from zeil who are organizing the series of lectures in the anniversary year. The lecture on the history of the town was a further contribution to the 1000-year celebration, which the town is celebrating this year.
In eleven chapters, he provided information about the changing economic situation of the city, about the topic of emigration and immigration, as well as about medical care and craftsmanship. The handling of catastrophes became clear on the basis of the local fire protection as well as on the basis of the military and the political circumstances.
Many a spectator came to the realization that these topics are probably the social questions of all times. And not only the mayor thomas stadelmann made a good impression on the topic "ailing roads and high indebtedness of the city" inwardly a smiling direct flight to the present time. Alois umlauf quoted the castner erhard fexer, who wrote in 1780: "zeil is the poorest office in the high diocese of bamberg… The long-distance traveler no longer passes through zeil because the roads are extremely bad and spoiled."
Medical care in the countryside was also more than adequate. There were only four doctors in the entire diocese of bamberg, namely in kronach, in forchheim, in vilseck and in zeil. There was a struggle to oblige the simple bathers, surgeons and midwives to a general basis of basic medical knowledge, so that the population would not be subjected to the "bunglers" was at the mercy.
Witch mania, war and plague decimated the population of zeil from 1500 to 500. Almost no house was without victims, no house with an intact family, no house without damage. And it took almost 100 years for the population to return to its original level.
Despite the small size of the city, zeil had an almost exuberant administrative system. In addition to the four quartermasters, as the responsible persons for a quarter were called, there was also an upper and a lower burgomaster and another ten councilors. In addition, there were the bailiff and the town bailiff as deputies of the prince-bishop of bamberg.
The ara bamberg ended for zeil when in 1802 a completely new form of administration was forced upon zeil, because as a consequence of the second war of the coalition (1799 to 1802) the ecclesiastical principality of bamberg and wurzburg were dissolved and incorporated into the kingdom of bavaria. Due to this abrupt loss of cultural identity, the region and the city of zeil were faced with the task of gradually re-establishing a new francophone consciousness. Whether and how this succeeds can be seen on 21. September and 18. October at the next city history lectures, to which the mayor thomas stadelmann already invited.
